DIY Linen/Pillow Spray.

Writer: Kaye's Natural CleaningKaye's Natural Cleaning

Today I’m going to show you one of my favorites things to do after waking up, it’s my own linen spray. I make it in my own bathroom and now you can do it too, it’s just that little extra love to brighten up your day during the quarantine.

I love starting my day smelling something pretty, and knowing I’ve done something nice for our home. During this time of isolation, some people are letting themselves go, and sometimes that can make us feel down, so this linen spray will help you boost your spirit in a few simple steps.

Linen spray is a very simple product that you can find usually at supermarkets, but as you know, it’s always best to do it in your own house with natural ingredients. This way you’ll know what you’re using in your bed and/or your couch. You can use linen spray to freshen up fabrics like your bedsheets, towels, carpets, or cushions. They’re usually made with alcohol and some kind of scent for a nice smell. I did mine with lemon and lavender essential oils. You can find my tutorial on my YouTube channel, where I also show you an easy way to wash your pillowcases.

So, the list of ingredients is very simple, I put a link of the ones I used in the description box of my video tutorial if you’d like to check those out. First of all, you’ll need:

  • 2 cups of distilled water

  • 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol or Witch Hazel (due to the current situation alcohol is hard to find so you can have an alternative)

  • 25-30 drops of essential oil of your preference.

  • 1 Amber Boston spray bottle like me or any glass spray bottle.

  • I also used a funnel to make it easier to pour all the liquids.

The first thing to do is to pour the rubbing alcohol and the essential oil in the bottle. I used two different scents, lemon, and lavender because I think they go extremely well together. I have some natural cleaning products with those two scents in my online shop, Kaye’s Natural Cleaning, and they’ve been a big hit. So, I want my bedsheets to smell just like that. Because I used two different essential oils I added 15 drops of each. After you pour both the alcohol and the essential oil, you can wiggle the bottle around just to get those mixed. Then you can add the 2 cups of distilled water.

And that’s all you need to make your own linen spray!

You can use this to freshen linens and soft furnishings or even during ironing your clothes to make it easier. It can also be sprayed on the bed 20 minutes before going to sleep and think about that when you’re choosing your essential oils, lavender, for example, can help to sleep better and to relax.
